1. scope
This Privacy Policy covers texttoby.io, the waitlist, the contact form, and information collected when you message or book through toby. Our Terms of Service describe the Service itself. If you do not agree with this policy, do not use the Service.
2. information we collect
We collect information you give us, information created when you use the Service, and limited information from partners who help us run it.
- Waitlist. Email address, zip code, referral or invite codes, and the page you signed up from.
- Contact form. Name, email, and the message you write.
- Job and messaging. Texts, photos, voice notes, addresses or access notes you send, scheduling details, and payment-related records needed to complete a job.
- Device and usage. IP address, browser type, pages viewed, referring URL, and approximate location derived from zip or IP.
- Cookies and pixels. We and partners (including advertising partners such as Snap) may use cookies, pixels, or similar tools to understand site use and measure campaigns.
We do not require an account to join the waitlist. Please do not send sensitive information you do not want stored, such as government IDs or unrelated medical details, unless we specifically ask for something needed to do a job.
3. how we use information
We use information to:
- run the waitlist and decide where to launch
- reply to contact form messages
- match you with a pro, share job details they need, and coordinate timing
- process payments through our processors
- send service, waitlist, and (where allowed) promotional messages
- prevent spam, fraud, and abuse
- measure marketing, debug the site, and improve the product
- comply with law and enforce our Terms
We do not sell your personal information for money. We may use limited identifiers with advertising partners to measure whether our ads work. You can opt out of sale or sharing where those laws apply by using the contact form and saying so.
4. how we share information
We share information only as needed to operate:
- Pros. What they need to quote, find the home, and do the job (for example name, address, problem description, photos, and access notes).
- Vendors. Hosting, databases, email or SMS delivery, payment processing, analytics, and ads measurement. They may process data only for us, or as independent services with their own policies.
- Legal and safety. If we believe we must, to comply with law, protect rights and safety, or handle a dispute.
- Business transfers. If we merge, raise funding, or sell assets, information may move with the business, still under this policy or a successor policy.
We do not give your phone number out as a lead to random vendor marketplaces. A booked pro may receive what they need to show up and finish the work.
5. retention
Waitlist and contact records are kept so we can launch, reply, and prevent abuse. Job-related messages and payment records are kept for as long as needed to complete work, handle complaints, taxes, and legal holds, then deleted or de-identified when we no longer need them. You can ask us to delete waitlist or contact data through the contact form. We may retain a minimal record if the law requires it or if the request is impossible to honor fully (for example, backups or fraud prevention).
6. your choices and rights
Depending on where you live (including California and other U.S. states with privacy laws), you may have the right to request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of certain personal information, and to opt out of targeted advertising or “sharing” as those laws define it. We will not discriminate against you for exercising those rights.
To make a request, submit the contact form and tell us what you need. We may need to verify you control the email you used. We do not publish a privacy email address. The form is the channel we monitor.
You can also stop waitlist emails by using any unsubscribe link we include, and you can limit cookies in your browser. Some cookies are needed for the site to function.
7. children
The Service is for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or under 16 where that is the relevant age. If you believe a child submitted information, use the contact form and we will delete it.
8. security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including restricted database access for contact and waitlist records. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. You use the Service at your own risk in that regard.
9. international visitors
We operate in the United States. If you access the Service from elsewhere, you understand your information may be processed in the U.S., where protections may differ from those in your country.
10. changes
We may update this policy. The effective date at the top will change when we do. Material changes will apply going forward. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
11. contact
For privacy questions or requests, use the contact form only. We do not offer a public email, phone line, or drop-in address for these requests.
